Andres V., Singapore: Scuba Spec Insert (in full-face snorkeling mask)
“Wanted to send you a quick note to say that the insert arrived today and works great. What I was hoping but wasn’t counting on was it fitting into my fullface mask. It does. Thanks for your extra effort and I hope you enjoy the holidays as much as I intend to!”
Nikki M., Alberta, Canada: Smoke Spec Insert
“Thank you for your quick reply. I must tell you that these glasses have allowed me to participate in fire that I was not able to before. I’m from a small volunteer fire department in central Alberta and had to decline wearing SCBA in a brush fire and the like because I could not see the embers. Thank you so much. You guys make an amazing product!”
Harry F., Fire District #3 Chief, Louisiana: Smoke Spec Insert
“The Winn Parish Fire District #3 has been using the Smoke Spec #279XT for about the last year. I have been pleased with this product. I am also pleased with the service that Barry Shedrow has shown me and my Fire District. This is the only product that I plan on using from now on.”

"We just got back Saturday. Took this picture (below) just for you. You may use the picture in any advertising or website. I'd love to see it, so let me know. We had zero problems with the system. If I have feedback for you, it might be to tell people to put some anti-fog on everything before it goes in the water (or any other location where temp variations might cause fogging). But the attachment was perfect and despite getting wet inside the mask many, many times and certainly adverse conditions for glue, everything functioned perfectly."
"Before a family vacation in Hawaii I was beside myself looking for a prescription snorkel mask for my 9-year-old. Everything I found online was overly expensive and indeed when I ordered several masks they called us and wanted to increase the price even more. As our vacation drew near, I was at wits end. In the eleventh hour, I found Prescription Spectacle Inserts. It was truly unreal how easy it was. I ordered the reasonably priced insert, reasonably priced lenses, and they shipped them to me just in time for our vacation. They fit neatly in a non-custom snorkel mask (from Costco) and worked flawlessly! In Hawaii, my son got to see clearly underwater for the first time! Prescription Spectacle Inserts literally saved the vacation and I will absolutely be ordering from them again when my son's prescription changes. A+ and thank you!"

"Hi Barry, I hope you or maybe a previous client can help me out with a problem I am having with my spec insert. It seems to be fogging up on me which defeats its purpose if I can't see beyond it. Any idea how to prevent it? My mask itself stays clear but the specs are like walking indoors after being out in the cold, instant fog. Any suggestion is helpful because otherwise they are fantastic."
PSII Response: Use a surfactant or anti-fog solution. There are commercially available solutions but some divers use saliva, lemon joy detergent, etc. Google the topic. I’m surprised that the mask is fog-free while the lenses fog up. It could be that the lenses are closer to your face which is warm and the source of water vapor.
Patricia H., California: Scuba Spec Insert
"I am not able to focus through the right eye nor can I see through the bifocals. I am hoping to get in the water with them next week on a trip. I was going to take to the eye doctor to have then check the prescription on the lens. Here are the pictures you asked for."
PSII Response: Thanks. I rechecked the paperwork from the lab and the rx matches that on your script so no mistake there. I noticed on your script, there is a notation “redo reason doctor change outside rx”. Maybe there’s an error in the rx? I don’t understand why you’re having problems with the reading segments. If I need to redo the right (?) lens, no problem, no charge."

"Got your glass of wine in your hand? Hold it up... CLINK... Cheers mate. The specs arrived today and they work great. I have put them in my mask and I can see everything with it on my head. I can't wait to try them in a pool and I really can't wait to use them in Hawaii in November either snorkeling or hopefully SCUBA. Either way, I will be able to see in a way that I never have before. This was the best, least expensive way to do this. I've tried to get this done several times over the years with mask lens replacements just to be turned down because of the prescription. You offer a great service for people with special vision needs. Bless you Barry."
Heather R., Waikiki Resort Beach: Scuba Spec Insert
"I am so sorry to ask you this last minute, but we are just about to go snorkeling and realized that my husband has lost one of his lenses. He got stung by a jellyfish and whipped off the mask. It is the right lens. So when I place the glasses on the mask, suction cup out, it is the right lens that is missing. Is there any way I can rush order this, Fedex overnight, please? Happy to pay extra for the rush."
PSII Response: Heather, lab sent the lens via UPS overnight.
Richard S., :Scuba Spec Insert
"Jeanne and I got back from Maui last Friday. While we were there we did a lot of snorkeling and I took a 1 tank discovery drive off the shore. The dive took me to where a cement pier had fallen down. The pier posts and floor then created a man made reef that was teaming with fish including a couple of 7ft white tipped sharks and about 10 turtles, not to mention fish of all kinds all around me. All of this time I was able to clearly see things I had never been able to see before underwater. I am so happy with the corrective inserts I got from you. Thank you. I will think of you each time I dive or snorkel. I'll check with you when I need a new set of lenses."
Justin F., : Scuba Spec Insert
"I noticed that the lenses were coming a bit loose in the frame...anything that I can do to remedy that? The lenses have not fallen out yet, but I am a bit nervous that they might. Would appreciate any advice that you many have."
PSII Response: If you can send the Scuba Spec insert back to me, I'll get it to the lab and they'll cut you a new pair of lenses, ensure proper fit in the insert, and ship it back to you (no charge).
Steve R., :Smoke Spec Insert
"My son has a pair of #279 from work. We went to out local glasses shop to get lenses made. They look like they are in the frame correctly, but when you attach them to the face shield, the lenses are backwards. In other words the inside curve is facing outwards. I don't know how to resolve this. Can you please advise? I have photos to send to help explain. This is very time sensitive. Thanks you for a quick response."
PSII Response: Remove the suction cup assembly and hold the nylon frame under hot water for a minute or two to soften it. Pop the lenses out and snap them back in so that they are properly oriented (convex surface facing away from eyes). You will probably need to exert a little pressure to remount them but don’t worry about damaging the frame or lenses. When finished, screw the suction cup assembly back onto the insert. Alternatively, you can take the insert back to your optician and request that they remount the lenses properly. Let me know if you have any problems.
Paul B., : Scuba Spec Insert
Barry: Received the Scubaspecs and they work perfectly. The picture is of my Scubapro dive mask with the inserts. I can read the details of my dive watch. Thanks again. Can't wait to get in the water again."
